Last day of freedom

Today is my last day of not having to get up and go to work. Wow. What a great summer, but it ALWAYS seems like the summer is just not long enough.

Plus, I'm a master procrastinator, so I've only just started doing the things I should have been doing all summer.

I finally started working consistently on a sequel to Learn Me Good.

I've updated my T-shirt store. Now you can choose your color, and there are many new styles, including neon, heather, and women's cuts. Also, some pretty cool grocery totes!

I also really need to get on the ball and film a video for the song I recorded LAST YEAR. I don't want to give the whole thing away, but here's a hint: It's a parody of a pretty popular Justin Timberlake song.

I think I'm going to visit my classroom today and at least arrange the furniture the way I want it for the year, maybe get a few bulletin boards started.

But then tomorrow is going to be a lay out and read by the pool day!!!

Living in the Land of Procrasti

That is, the sovereign state of Procrasti. Procrasti-Nation, even.

I have been so incredibly lazy over the past 2 weeks. Sure, I've attended a staff development, I've taken care of some wedding stuff, I've cleaned up around the house. However, I keep feeling that I should be doing some writing, if not on Learn Me Gooder, then at least on SOMETHING. But I don't...

At any rate, here's something completely different...

If anybody out there subcribes to the Dish Network for their tv channels, and if you get Veria, please check out a show called Whatta Ya Think? The guide shows this coming on at 4:00 on Sat, 5:00 on Sun, and 4:30 weekdays (EST). I was ON this show, once upon a time, and they are FINALLY airing it. Of course, since I don't actually get the Dish Network, I can't watch it.

But if you do, you can keep an eye out for me. I'll be the goofy guy who laughs too much, blinks too much, and is real good at math. Oh, and I win.

If you DO happen to see me, please let me know, especially if you've recorded it. I would love to get my hands on that!

I'm such a character

Tomorrow is Dress As Your Favorite Character in a Book Day ™. I can't think of any stories that deal primarily with a major procrastinator, but that would have been ideal for me. Instead, I have been racking my brain all day long trying to think of something that would be easy and manageable, not to mention recognizable by the kids.

That last little bit of course throws out all of the “adult” novels. Goodbye Tom Clancy. So long Charles Dickens. Nice to know ya, Victor Hugo. And saddest of all, no Stephen King. Here I thought I could come as Johnny Smith from the Dead Zone. I wouldn't have a very distinctive style of dress, but I COULD have fun going around shaking the kids’ hands and making eerie and creepy prophecies.

“You are going to have a flat hamburger for lunch. You're going to get put in time out at 1:24. You're going to fidget.”

Then I looked through my collection and found a wonderful book by a noted author, Patricia Polacco. I thought how fun it would be to dress as the title character. Of course, I would be putting my job in jeopardy every time I told the kids who I was dressed as. But I could just wear a shirt and tie, with a blazer. And the only modification would be a big name tag that read, "Hello, my name is Mr. Falker.”
