No more recess
This week's Mr. Teacher column on education.com is titled "Give Me a Break," and it is the story of a school year without recess. Well, 2 weeks of a school recess with only 2 days of recess, anyway. Read the full story and weigh in if your school has done anything this drastic!

Ok, seriously, you're my new favorite blog! Hilarious! No recess? Isn't it a civil liberty?
And thanks for ruining the whole Santa thing for me.
I'm a high school teacher, so can't specifically weigh in. I can tell you though, that if I were an elementary school teacher, I think I'd go crazy if the little cherubs couldn't go out to play. Conversely, if I were an elementary school cherub, I would have too much energy to expend without recess and would probably interrupt your class a lot!
as a school bus driver... no recess=hell for us on a bus. I'd complain to the state, theres got to be some law that requires schools provide recess especially for younger grades...
a sneaky way of getting them outside is to plan a Math Scavenger hunt... or something similar. or a language code thingy that gets them to run from point a to point b to point c. etc....
