Thank you all very much for the kind words and compliments. Hopefully I will be able to post from time to time--like right now!
I hope that everyone in the state of Texas (and anyone else who has already started school) had a great first day! Mine was pretty good--only 13 kids in my homeroom! I'll probably be up to 22 in a couple of weeks, but today was nice.
I just have to wonder how long it will take some of us to start paraphrasing Samuel L. Jackson from Snakes on a Plane. I can almost already hear the cries of...
"I've had it with these @#!**%#@! kids in this @#!**%#@! Classroom!!"

Glad to have you back!
Only 13 kids? I have taught in several schools where our numbers start out really low, then, it's like their parents look around the neighborhood and go "Uh, when's school start?" We usually didn't get our final count until after Labor Day. Until then, enjoy your 13, my friend.
Can you imagine the things you could do with only 13 kids?
Not to worry, though. According to many of the "reform" experts class size doesn't make any difference.
I'm so jealous! My projected numbers are in the 30's in each class--and it will pretty much stay at those numbers. That's about 30 more students than I had last year...
How long before I start in on the $%#^%$%^#$??? If I don't get my mind in the game soon, it will happen in the first week for me!
